In this prospective, international multicentre study, the authors developed and validated a model allowing early prediction of patients likely to develop delirium during ICU admission. With the E-PRE-DELIRIC model, stratification is possible immediately after ICU admission. This might help for interventions being more effective in preventing ICU delirium.
Using nine predictors that are readily available at ICU admission, it is now possible to stratify ICU patients for delirium risk for the complete ICU length of stay with a high discriminative power.
